Beginner Squad Training

In addition to the six week beginner courses we also run sessions that cater for novices and anyone who prefers a more casual pace. These are a great way to get involved in the squad if you can't commit to a beginner course or you are keen to get started straight away. There are five sessions per week that cater for all abilties:

  • Monday swim - two sessions 5:15pm and 6:15pm;
  • Tuesday run - 5:30am;
  • Wednesday cycle - 5:30am;
  • Friday swim - 5:30am; and
  • Saturday swim, cycle and/or run - various times check calendar.

What is the difference between the beginners course and the squad training?
A common question is what is the difference between the two options for beginners? The key difference is that the 6 week course has a higher focus on skills and technique. The start of the course focuses on the basics such as cornering and braking safely on the bike and progresses over the six weeks up to learning how to mount and dismount. By the end of six weeks you will know everything you need to know to complete your first triathlon.

In contrast the squad training consists of a larger group and the sessions focus on more fitness and group training. There is still a skill component to the sessions but it is not as specific as the beginner course.

How do I get started?
To start training with BTS all you need to do is come along and try out one of our sessions. You are welcome to turn up to a session at your leisure or alternatively send us an email to let us know and we will make sure the coach knows to expect you.
