| BTS Community |
At BTS we believe in how fortunate we are to be able to compete in triathlons and enjoy this sport as part of our lifestyles. To many members the squad is part of their extended family with many friends and relationships formed. We view the squad as part of the community as a whole and in recognition of this enjoy giving back to those less fortunate.
An initiative close to BTS' heart is raising money for the Geebung Special School where Mark's eldest son William attends. Over the past few years money donated from fundraising at BTS has helped the school purchase much needed equipment and improve the facilities for the kids. |

Fundraising 2011
For the Noosa Triathlon in 2011 BTS ran a 'pick your time' competition with prizes for those that guessed the closest to their time on race day. With the conditions on race day throwing out the times for many athletes, Aaron Beckinsale was declared the winner and $560 was raised for the school with the money deposited into their savings account for future projects.
Fundraising 2010
In 2010 fundraising efforts through squad activities raised $400 for the school to assist with much needed equipment.
Fundraising 2009
Fundraising through gold coin donations at time trials and a special BTS movie night raised $1,400 for the School to purchase a special chair for students who are unable to support their own body weight. This chair allows these students to use the trampoline like any other kid and has been a great asset to the school. |

Tour de Tri 2008
In 2008 Mark undertook the mammoth task of completing three Ironman distance events (3.8km swim, 180km cycle, 42.2km run) over three days. His motivation for this challenge was to raise funds for Epilepsy Qld and the LETR who support the Special Olympics. Mark's eldest son suffers from epilepsy along with other mental and physical disabilities so these charities are very close to Mark's heart. His efforts for the 2008 Tour de Tri raised $25,000 for the charities.
Tour de Tri 2009-2011
Not wanting to stop there the Tour de Tri continued in June 2009 in a different format. It then became a 24 hour triathlon with individuals and teams completing a short swim, cycle, run course as many times as they could in 24 hours. The event attracted 200 competitors and raised $9,000 for the charities.
The event continued through 2010 and 2011 raising over $10,000.
