What Our Athletes Have to Say |
"Training with BTS offers challenges, fun, variety and all within a social environment with happy, positive people. I cancelled my gym membership that I’ve had for over 10 years once I started training with BTS and I now feel fitter, stronger and more motivated than I’ve ever been. I now look forward to getting up early on a weekend for a training session". Tania Proctor |
“It is a pleasure to say that I have been a member of BTS since November 2007. Through Mark and his team of coaches philosophy of ‘Consistency in Training’ and ‘Getting out of you comfort zone’ even a very average athlete like myself has been able to steadily improve in races culminating in a 8 minute plus PB at the 2009 Mooloolaba Olympic Distance Triathlon. BTS not only provides a friendly and supportive training environment but also a secure place to keep your gear during races and a great meeting place at the big red BTS tent. It is a great feeling to be cheered on and be given high fives from fellow BTS members as you pass the BTS tent on the way to finish big events like the Mooloolaba Triathlon”. Mark Lawton |
I have been with BTS for about 12 months and not only have a taken chunks off my PB's I have also developed some great friendships with like minded triathlon tragics. Also the ability to work so closely with all the coaches has enabled me to challenge myself further by attempting longer distance races (eg Ironman). Something that I would never have thought possible before joining BTS. Tim Franklin |
BTS has offered me so much on so many different levels in living my triathlon dreams! My enthusiasm, motivation and interest in training are all thanks to a great training environment where I've got a great bunch of people to train with, and the coaches are easy going nice people too. The variety in the training keeps it entertaining and fun where the coaches push me to train well and reach new goals; I've never been fitter in all my life. The ample training sessions times and locations have also fit in well with home and work life. Glen Stephenson |
I have to admit that I initially hesitated joining BTS as I was a little worried that I might not be good enough to train with experienced athletes - especially on the bike. Since joining the squad earlier this year, I have to say that I haven't looked back, with the squad catering for all levels from beginners to advanced. The training calendar provides a large number of sessions to choose from and the variety of sessions also means that I don't get bored doing the same thing all the time. I have improved my fitness, gained confidence on the bike and have met some really great people in the process. I can honestly say that I look forward to my BTS sessions everyday! Having been reluctant to join a club due to my self-perception of being a weak swimmer, I was relieved to find that BTS provided a friendly and encouraging environment. With a good mix of abilities ranging from beginners up to world championship and ironman athletes, there is always someone to swim, ride or run alongside to push you towards your goals and through to that all-important post session breakfast and coffee. Having not had the confidence to swim 400 metres only several months ago, I am now signed up to complete an Ironman race. Mike Tunnah |
After doing gym and bootcamp style exercise for years, I found myself getting bored with the content and never actually applied the fitness gained to anything in particular. I am not sure how I ended up getting introduced to BTS, but since starting in April 2009, I have become totally addicted to triathlon. While the training I do at BTS is probably more demanding than what I've done in the past, the squad offers so much variety it makes it easier to maintain focus and drive over the long term. I self trained and raced prior to joining BTS and being coached by Mark. Through the coaching experience I’ve gained valuable techniques in all disciplines as well as having a defined training structure. The considered program has allowed me to increase my enjoyment of the sport and improve my overall performance - I continue to set new PBs in all legs and have gone from a 2:59 Race at Noosa to now racing in the 2:20s within a year. Mark has shown how to get the most out of my limited training time and has been extremely valuable in encouraging me to get the most out of triathlon. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with and friendships developed through BTS. James Johnson |
I want to thank both of you so much for all the coaching that you and the squad have given me over the past 12 months, and can honestly say that I have enjoyed every moment of training & competing (well maybe not at the time, but definitely afterwards!). You guys have given me so much, made me realise that I can achieve levels of fitness that I never thought I could get to. Also I feel I have come so far in the last 12 months, after all I couldn't swim 400m freestyle and nor would I have ever thought I could run even 10 kms 12 months ago! Without the squad and also yours, Robson's & Bronny's support I would have never been able to do any of this - mainly as I would have never thought that far out of the square, or even have known where to begin! Training with the squad is definitely up there with my best memories that I have had in QLD so far & I am going to miss it dearly. I am so proud to have been part of the squad for the last year. I do intend on keeping up all the training once I get back home, but it wont be nearly the same! Robyn Hansen |
