What is involved?
The Westpac Tour de Tri 24 is a 24 hour triathlon event for teams and individuals. The course is a 300m/9km/3km and the challenge is to complete as many circuits as possible as either an individual or in a team as possible in 24 hours. In addition, there is also a 6 hour option for those who really like the daylight hours!

Interested in participating?
This format will make it suitable for all ages & skill levels from beginners and social participants through to the more serious athletes that wish to take on the challenge. Individuals need to be 18+ years and team compeitors 16+ years. You can either take the ultimate challenge and try it as a solo participant, or join with a group of up to 10 like minded buddies and do it as a team.

How does it work?
The categories below outline the options available for the 24 or 6 hour race.

  • Individual;

  • Team of 2;

  • Team of 3;

  • Team of 4; and

  • Team of 5-10.

  • Note: 6 hour teams can only have a maximum of 5 per team.

Are there any rules?
You must be over 18 years old to enter as an individual and 16 years to be part of a team. It is up to you how you schedule your team mates, however only one member can be on the course at any given time. You can also stop, eat and rest (even sleep) for periods of time if you choose.

How long is the course?
The course is a 300m swim, a 9km bike and a 3km run. Download 2009 Course Map.

The swim?
The 300m swim will take place in the 10 lane 50 metre heated pool at the Kawana Aquatic Centre at Stockland Park. As the pool is heated the swim will be non-wetsuit.

The ride?
The 9 km ride is an out and back course along the rowing lake. It is all on fully lit roads closed to general traffic. The course is completely flat.

The 3km run is an out and back course along the rowing lake. The course is completely flat.

What do we need to bring?
You will need to bring all your own gear for a triathlon such as cap, goggles, bike and shoes, helmet, runners, hat, sunnies and water bottles. A light on the front and back of bikes is required, and also a flashing light for the run leg.

The weather could be quite cold, so in addition, bring along arm warmers, a wind vest, a beanie, gloves etc. There will be spaces to set up camp and club tents’ so you can bring along a sleeping bag, pillows, a hot water bottle, a rug, some warm dry clothes, a change of clothes and any other personal needs for 24 hours. Competitirs will have access to toilets and bathrooms.

What support is available?
We will provide all participants with water and sports drink at aid stations around the course. In addition, each participant will be given a meal ticket for meals. Food and drinks can be purchased from the onsite BBQ and coffee van. There will be hot soups, sausage sizzles, bacon and egg rolls, some sugar hits and loads more and plenty of tea and coffee. All the proceeds from the food and drinks go directly back to the charity so try to support this if you can.

How much does it cost?
For ALL participants, solo or in a team, the set entry price is $99 each.

This entry fee is considered your fundraising donation to LETR, however feel free to set an additional fundraising goal and have your family and friends sponsor you on the number of laps that complete inn the event.
